Marketing Anywhere: Why You Don't Put Email on a Web Site
Q: Is there a reason for just having a "Contact Us" button with fields as opposed to also having a link to directly email me?
A: The reason I stoutly refuse to post email address links on a web site anywhere is that it never captures the prospect’s information, thus circumventing the entire reason why you paid for your web site in the first place. When someone just emails you, they can send any amount of information they choose … which is usually less than what you'd ever want to collect … and you either go through the laborious process of manually adding what little you have to some contact management database you have over there on that machine, or you forget to add it completely, which is usually and unfortunately more the case with busy, successful business people.
So, with the contact form, you’ve always got the prospect’s information there – forever saved to your online database – to refer to, and answer to, and send future DRIPs (scheduled auto responders) to.
